Betty, Marilyn, Raquel, Farrah – A New Kind of Pin Up

Other lovely ladies followed – Raquel Welch, Marilyn Monroe and Farrah Fawcet.  Not quite as common were handsome gents – but I do remember during my teen years the very hot Donny Osmond and David Cassidy hanging on the walls of my girl friend’s bedrooms. (Bonnie confessed to Mark Spitz on her wall).

Usually I talk about stocks, bonds, annuities, taxes and interest rates in this blog.  However, today I’m not going to focus on interest – but on Pinterest.

The internet has brought a  new type of “Pin Up”.  The latest hot social media site is Pinterest – in which you and your friends share pictures that you find on the internet on bulletin boards that you create.

For instance, let’s say you are a gourmet cook and are passionate about finding new recipes.  After you are signed up with Pinterest, you can set up a new bulletin board devoted to “Fabulous Recipies”  When you surf the web and find a picture of an appetizing dish, you click on it and it is pinned to your bulletin board (I’ll go over how this is done later).  Then when you return to your account, the picture is there.  Later when you decided that you want to make that dish, you click on the link below the picture and you are taken to the recipe.  Volla!  You have pinned.

Many of my clients subscribe to my weekly email update on the stock and bond markets.  In that update, I include a recipe.  I know that there are some of my readers who read the update specifically for the recipes and I have struggled with how to archive those.  I think that Pinterest is the perfect solution to this problem.  Therefore, I have set up my Pinterest account and am in the process of archiving recipes from the old emails.
